COMMUNITY BACKSTORY

Luther was established in 1898 after being platted by Luther F. Aldrich of Cumberland County, IL. As the railroad made its way down what is now Route 66, C.G. Jones made several land purchases to build towns in Oklahoma Territory. What is now called Luther was originally the Garnettville Community, and was part of the original 40 acres purchased by Luther F. Aldrich. The town was later named after C.G. Jones' son Luther Jones.
